My morning visitor.

    I almost plucked this big guy off of one of my bougainvillea this morning thinking
    it was a dead leaf. I have to say this was the largest moth I have ever seen at least a good 4 to 5 inch wing span.

    Oh that is to cool ... i know what you mean about being big .. i had one fluttering at my screen door one night .. and when i looked it was a giant silk moth .. cant remember the actual name of it .. but they are so pretty and soooo big .. almost unreal ..

    Thks for sharing some of the Floridian wild life with us.
    Gosh, you just find it in your bouganvillea, ah! Is that the pink in the background?
    We get a nice purple giant moth around here sometimes but it's been years since I've seen one.

    What an awesome beauty! This is called an Imperial moth...I think you have the male in this image? The female is even bigger!

    Just want to say thank-you all for your comments and thank-you C.Wick for the info on what this beautiful creature ishere is a photo of what the bougainvillea looks like sorry for the awful shot..I think its a Pink Pixie I rescued it from what I call the dead plant isle/clearance sectionI nick named it the octopus plant it grows differently then the other bougainvillea I love to collect.

    Not all bougainvilleas are climbers?
    Looks like a great plant to collect.
