Hi to all the good folks of UBC. I recently bought my indoor lemon tree and have read a lot of good info on here. Can someone who has citrus growing knowledge give me some point form notes on the basics to keep my tree healthy and living?

From what I've read the Eureka lemon is the hardiest to cold from all the lemons. I have read that it can survive -9 degrees celcius. At what temps will the Eureka lemon be disturbed at?

I clipped this from a web page I visitged and the owner had to say this about the Eureka lemon:

"Tough Eureka lemons...the Meyer lemon is the LEAST cold tolerant of all lemons, not the most! If you want toughness with heat and cold, go for thick skinned citrus, like the Eureka. Ours have survived and fruited in minus 9C as well as 11 months with almost no rain, and months of almost continuous gale force winds, often over 40C and even up to 52C. "

The web page you refer to is 2,000 percent wrong. In fact the web site has it completely backwards. Better find a new web site to rely upon. - Millet

Should I return my Eureka for a Meyer's?
Is the hardiness difference between these two varieties substantial?

In terms of hardiness I don't think it matters much in your case; I believe you are in Ontario which means the tree will have to spend at least part of the time indoors to protect it from the cold. From a size perspective Meyer may be more appropriate as it is smaller and more compact.
