Just thought I'd share a pic. I can't believe how bright it is. Last year was my first fall with it and it had a nice yellow then orange and then all the leaves fell. This year it just glows with oranges and reds. I hope to have many more years of color like this. That's my wife and daughter next to the maple. You know it's really pretty if she is excited about it :-) I hope the picture does it justice.

That's a beautiful tree and family! Congratulations. The patent says it's a fast grower, so maybe your little girl will have a chance to climb it. :) Sadly few of my maples are big enough for our kids to climb, but that doesn't stop them from racing up and down the more mature trees around.

Ron is pointing out that the cultivar name is 'Bailsta' and the commercial trade name is Fall Fiesta, so you might see trees referred to either way (although IIRC the former is correct taxonomically).

    cheers,

Ah, I was wondering what his post meant. Good, I never liked the name fall fiesta. I actually stayed away from buying one for a while because the name turned me off but then I saw a really nice one in fall and decided I needed one anyway. Glad I decided to get one now and from now on I'll be calling it Bailsta, sounds way better! Thanks.

I put up background information for anyone who might like to know more about the tree.
