I have a 10-year old Redwood that was given to me when it was a twig. I live in Maine, so planting it outdoors doesn't seem to be an option. It was repotted last summer and now stands 6' tall. It was our Christmas tree this past December. However, in the last two months it has started turning brown and dying from within at an alarming rate. I don't think that it has bugs but I noticed a weblike covering in the interior of the living brances while misting them. Does anyone know what is happening to my tree? It's only ever lost small amounts of foliage before. Thanks.

Sounds like spider mites. Treat it with an arachnicide (not an insecticide, that won't work!).

    Can you post a photo?

I'm not savvy enough to post a photo. My next stop will be the gardening store. Thanks for the tip.
