Hi - my first post on here. Just taken a break from mowing the lawn (aka field), rescuing frogs and picking mushrooms to see if anyone on here knows what type of mushrooms I have growing in my lawn and around my borders. Its been a very very wet summer so far in the UK and I think I have more mushrooms in the garden than the local supermarket has on its sheves !!! Not too bothered about eating them but as I have children who play in the garden I wouldn't mind knowing if they are poisonous or just an annoyance. Thanks Dom
A brittlestem species named "weeping widow", or Psathyrella lacrymabunda (synonym Lacrymaria lacrymabunda). It is not poisonous but hardly recommendable for consumption. Cheers Harri Harmaja http://www.fmnh.helsinki.fi/users/harmaja/index.htm
Thanks guys - as long as I know its not going to kill the little monsters when they play in the garden. :) Much appreciated.
