Hi, I'm a relative inexperienced mushroom hunter and I'm hoping that those of you with more knowledge and experience with the subject might be able to help me identify these. First off, they were found in western washington in a field surrounded by a forest. This field had very tall and thick grass growing wild until a few weeks ago, when it was mowed and mulched, it has also been raining for the better part of a week so this grass was well on its way to Compost . I'm including multiple photos because I'm having trouble describing the colors, they seemed to start of a creamy pale grey/brown/tan when young, gradually turning darker shades of tan and brown. The gills went from creamy white to darker brown/grey? There was a thin white partial veil that once broken loose from mature fruits often left no trace on the Stipe . The Stipe was hollow and dry feeling, an off-white color that did not react at all to picking/handling. The caps started off bell-shaped when young and opened up in a convex expansion that became flatter and flatter with age. Most retained a slightly heightened "nipple" in the center. The cap had a thin, gelatin-like skin on it that was slightly darker than the flesh underneath and started to break easily with handing. Neither the Stipe nor the cap showed any sign of reaction to handling. They smell delicious, earthy/mushroomy/doughy, I have no idea what they taste like because I'm not quite bold enough to try. After a day of drying the caps have started to fade to a tan/beige/buff color, the Stipe turning varying shades of tan, and the gills have turned a warm ocherish brown with slightly chestnut tones. The spore print's color was very hard to capture with the camera, even now it's still a little off in the photos, the best way i can describe the color is warm brown with darker spots that seem mixed with a deeper brown/grey/just the smallest touch of purple? Maybe? Like I said, hard to describe. My best guess so far is that they might be psilocybe strctipes but they're not in season yet and these don't blue at all. Any information anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated, I'm new to this and would love to find out if these were poisonous, edible, or even psychedelic. Much thanks to anyone and everyone who replies. Edit: A few pics of them doing their thing in their habitat.
Thanks you, I've posted this to multiple forums and you're the only person to have replied. With the right answer nonetheless, thanks again.
