I just got a truck load of mushroom compost in and i have spread it in the garden and tilled it in and i have also spead it around all of my trees (maples, cedars, spruces etc.)
I just want to make sure i am doing the right thing here. The pile of compost is about 34 cu. yards and is still hot in the middle of the pile so i hope it wont be to much for the trees. Also on top of the compost that i spread around the trees i plan on topping it off with a couple of inches of wood chips. Will this be ok?

    Thanks for any help
    Ryan

Just make sure that your compost or mulch are a couple of inches away from the trunks of your trees. Sounds like you are doing well.

Note: don't plant potatoes where you put the compost. You're spuds will be covered in scab.

Thanks for the info-do you think i should put some big-O or something like that around the trunk of the tree? (so there is no trunk rot?)

No. Just pull the stuff away from the trunk with your hand.
