about 5 years ago my family moved into my grandparents old home...my grandfather has about 50 ft of nothing but muscadine vines...but no one has taken care of them since he died..which has been about 10 years...it is such a mess..i wouldn't even know where to begin...what are we supposed to do..how do we know what needs to be pruned and what doesn't...or is it just too far gone to even mess with
Cut the vines severely to the main stalk and let them regrow in a controlled way to suit your needs. Its the only way to correct decades of abandonment. Obviously, they will not produce fruit for two growing seasons, or more, but you will have the control that was not available with chaos.
