Hello - we just obtained a 2.5 foot Musa Basjoo. We are going over option where to plant in our yard. I have not been able to find any information about how large the root system is and and far is can spread. We have a water and sewer lines running into the yard and want to take this into consideration.

    Thanks for any input! :)

Most water and sewer lines in our area are solid pipe with glued fittings. Even tree roots won't penetrate. Maybe crush someday, but not really penetrate. Not if the fittings are glued right.

If the sewer is septic - different story.
