    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any information about the invasiveness of musa basjoo. I see many photos of them beside houses etc.. and wonder about roots invading drain tile, water pipes going to the house as well....??

As well, how long can they stay in a container outdoors (large cedar pot) before needing to be planted in the ground?

    Help!
    thanks,

"Root invasivness" ... not bad at all. Best planted away from perimeter/ foundation drainage. Root system is relatively shallow and not a problem.

"how long can they stay in a container outdoors " A number of factors are at work here. The initail size of the plant and the speed at which it grows, depending on conditions and weather all play a part in this situation. Under normal conditions, I'd give it a couple of years, three on the outside.

    Cheers, LPN.

Thanks! That is what I thought.....we have a back yard corner of the house that it would look nice in, but it would be very close to the drain tile (practically on top of it), so I think another spot will do...

    Cheers,
