  1. A gale snapped our greengage tree off about 6 inches about the ground. New shoots are appearing. I assume that greengages are normally grafted and a selection of one of these shoots would not produce a good fruit bearing tree. Am I right?

    Probably the case. Can you or could you ever see any evidence of a graft line on the trunk?
