We have a rather large magnolia tree in the back yard in our our family home in East Vancouver I was hoping I could move it to some property I have on Hornby any suggestions on how to, who can or the best timing of that move.

Would have to hire a contractor with knowledge and equipment to move it for you. This would not be cheap. Might even be possible to buy a large replacement specimen for new location for less than this would cost - although if that one also was too big for you to bring home and plant yourself then again you are looking at the cost of hiring it out.

New and exciting hybrids continue to appear on the market, I would encourage you to leave this older type where it is and plant another kind at the new place instead.

Or make a cutting if it has sentimental value. They grow reasonably quickly in good conditions.
