can anyone give me advice on moving plum, cherry, pear trees
these are at my allotment which i plan to hand back but i want to take my trees with me they have been in the ground for nearly 3 yrs. planted as bear root trees. they have had no pruning this year as i did not get to the allotment. should i prune before moving them i know i should wait to prune cherry/plum trees till march but i would really like to move these trees as soon as possible.

One thing that will help is root pruning--if you can wait at least a month to move them. Root pruning is simple taking a spade and making a circle around the tree-- just plunge the spade straight down to sever the roots at a distance from the trunk that is about where you would start digging the tree. By doing that the tree will start to regrow new roots inside the circle, thereby helping to support the tree when it is eventually moved.

I would wait until it is moved to prune the top, but I would prune it to help balance the roots and top after the move.
