My moth orchid has one leaf that is has a large yellow spot on it, the exposed roots are still a silvery/gray color though. I have had the orchid for almost 3 weeks and I have only watered it twice. It is still in the original small pot it came in, I plan on transferring it something more appropriate soon. Thanks for any help I can get this is my first orchid.

Is it possible for you to slap up a picture?

If not, would that yellow happen to be on the lowest leaf? If it's the lowest leaf, is it all turning yellow now? If it isn't, then it could be several things - too much water, not enough water, it got sunburned, or it has bugs. A picture would be most helpful.

As for re-potting: How long would you say the leaves are? How many leaves does it have? How big is the pot?

Most of the time, people tend to re-pot Phals (aka moth orchids) thinking the pot is too small when really, it isn't.

Get back to us with that information & we'll take it from there.

    K.

Sorry it took me so long. I also just purchased something to prevent/kill insects. I saw some small white bugs in it. orchid.jpg
