Moss with bright red sporophytes

    Not sure what species moss this is. Found growing in an older 2nd growth cedar/hemlock forest in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Randle, WA. The tiny creature in the last photo attests to the rich diversity of life in these forests.

    Rhytidiadelphus loreus , I think, also known as gooseneck moss or lanky moss.
