I am addicted, I admit it. I can't get enough succulents. WalMart just cleared out their cactus and succulents for 1/2 price and I could resist. The only problem is that they never have name tags on them. (If I had know about the clearance going on at Target, 70% off, I would have had even more. Good thing I didn't know about that sale, huh!)
Anyway, I am having a problem ID'ing my new plants. Anybody have a clue as to what they are? I think the first 5 plants are Aeonium or Echeveria of some kind. The last two I think are some kind of Pachyveria. Am I even close. If anyone knows the specific names for each and any care tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say #1,3,4,5,7-echiverias and they need more light and less water

Thankyou for the reply. I agree with you on them being Echeveria. You wouldn't happen to know what kind of Echeveria they are? I was worried they were getting too much sun, but apparently the opposite is true. I have cut back on watering them since these pictures were taken. Now I am watering only when then soil feels dry for a few days. They had these plants in a dark corner of the gardening department at WalMart when I bought them. I guess it will take a little while to get some color into them by getting them more sun in their new home in my backyard.

Thankyou for the link to the site. I've already been there before and they didn't have anything that looks like any of my succulents.

    1. looks like Echeveria runyonii.
    2. seems like a pale Echeveria 'Black Prince' (more light might darken it up)
    3. & 4. look like Echeveria peacockii (previously & syn. E. subsessilis)
    5. could be one of several Echeveria...best to let it grow a bit better, then try again for ID. Flowering would be even better!
    6. maybe Pachyveria (definitely has Pachyphytum in it)
    7. possibly Sedeveria , if not Echeveria

I agree, all need more light, less water.

Hope this gets you further for positive IDs on them! :)

I'll follow your advice on less water, more light. They were hiding these succulents in a dark corner at WalMart, and they probably watered them like regular plants. So it may take me a little while to undue their misspent youth. After they improve a little, I'll post an updated picture of them. (Hopefully, they will improve!)

What is really interesting, is that I went to all the local nurseries first to try to find succulents, and they hardly had any stock, lots of regular plants, but very few succulents. I went to WalMart last, and they had a fantistic assortment. Sorry, but I can't buy from the nurseries if they don't even carry succulents for me to buy.

There are a couple of specialist cacti nurseries just east of Los Angeles - I imagine one of the effects of having the stunning Huntington BG nearby. How close is local to you?

Another option (and a great way to source plants) is to join a local cacti and succulent society - then you'll have the inside track on who sells what locally (and also an opportunity for shows and member sales)

The Huntington Botanical Gardens is around 60 miles from me. Probably would end up being about a 2 to 3 hour drive because of traffic. You never know about the traffic though.
