    Dear All,

I would greatly appreciate help IDing these. I am pretty sure that #1 and #6 are the same thing except shaped differently (#1 is gown like a tree and #6 like a bush, but the leaves and barks are the same). I suspect #2 is dogwood, but there are no berries. The leaves and the bark on #1 and #6 are darker than the ones on #2.

    Thank you!
    TA

Thank you!! Of course (I should have remembered from the times I first started using the UBC forums...).

I should have explained that we are in zone 7, that this is our new property, and I'm trying to figure out what's worth saving, especially after a very hot summer when a whole bunch of plants died / got damaged. Nobody lived here a while, so frankly sometimes I'm not even sure is something's a weed or a real thing... Like that thing with white flowers, for example.

More pictures of that one would be good, esp. any showing reproductive parts or at least buds.

Here are some more pictures of number 2 -- the trunk, the leaves, whatever I could find of the buds. It's a tree with multiple slender trunks, about 8-9 feet tall. Thank you all so much!

Off topic. Thanks weedbender, Even though this plant isnt P. persicaria upon looking it up, you put a name to a picture I took on a recent trip to Hood Canal. But the actual name was a little problematic. Burke's WTU herbarium from UW and the Eflora of BC have it listed as Persicaria maculosa, while the USDA Plant page still retains Polygonum persicaria, and I'm also a bit confused if it is native or not. But I consider my confusion is a good thing. Keeps you thinking about things too. Harry
