I am from England.Just wanted to know if I can cut branches off lower trunk of Monkey tree.As my tree has long gangly branches. They are a hazard,as they have grown over the foot path, and are a hazard to people.Or should I just tie back the branches.Or can I shorten the branches,by cutting them.Thank you.Sandra.

Yes, if it is just low branches, you can cut them back or right off..

In the wild and in some cultivated settings these often shed the lower branches, to become long trunks with comparatively small crowns at the tops - in the manner of palm trees - anyway.
