Hello. We have had a monkey puzzle tree in my mothers garden for over 40 years. Recently i have noticed 3 large holes in the bark, which are leaking an awful lot of sap. Do i need to call in a tree surgeon or can i remedy this myself? Alternatively, can i simply ignore it. Many thanks Nick
Any idea what caused the holes? Can you post some photos? The 'sap' is actually resin, which acts as a natural wound sealant; depending on the size and cause of the holes, the tree may be OK, but more information is needed.
