The owners of a new elementary school my office is designing would like a tree in the main lobby. The ceilings are 24 feet tall, (31 feet to the top of the skylight,) and the room will receive a whole lot of natural and direct light. Everyone we consult suggests Ficus but they don't seem special enough for this space, and are ubiquitous in all the malls.) I would love to put a monkey puzzle in there, even if it started as a very young tree and could grow into the space.Has anybody heard of indoor Monkey Puzzles? Is this totally impractical and cruel to the tree? People from the town's parks service will be maintaining it. Thank you for any and all advice.
