Hi all, i have just joined so a big hello to all. I have a small monkey puzzel tree being delivered later this week and wondered if anyone could advice me on planting advice for the Uk? I did intend to plant in my small front garden, but it looks like this will grow far to big. Can i plant in a pot and bury in the ground to resrtrict growth as a 10ft tree is as big as i would want it in that spot? My other thought was to plant in large back garden, i was wondering wether its OK to plant direct into the ground now and what soil prep would best benefit the tree? Thanks for any advice..... Mickeyboy
Slow when young but landmark tree in time, plant in large back garden. Shallow wide hole, no deeper than roots are now. No soil amendments. Full sun. Mulch after planting, no mulch against trunk.
Welcome mickeyboy. Ron has given you excellent advice. Definitely put it in your large back garden! You might like to have a look at this old thread. http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=56671&highlight=monkey+puzzle
