    Hello everyone,

I joined this website to see if I could potentially receive some assistance in diagnosing issues I have been having with one of my money trees (Pachira aquatica) for the last several weeks.

The tree has not produced any leaves in a considerable amount of time. The top of the stalk was wrinkled and unhealthy and so I cut away that quarter inch of that area. The internal area of the tree looks healthy upon investigation.

In researching this species of plant, I have repotted the tree with fresh soil mixed with perlite to ensure proper drainage. Further, the root system has no odor and is seemingly healthy so I do not believe it has root rot.

I have also relocated the plant to an area that receives indirect sunlight on North West facing window equipped with white cloth blinds. (If the blinds are open, the plant can potentially receive a few direct rays of light for a period of 2-3 hours).

There is no noticeable indication of mealy worms, red spider mites or any other insect.

Needless to say, I am at a complete loss. In an attempt to save the plant, I have recently attempted to increase humidity by placing it in a bag with a small container of water in a separate container.

Any and all advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated since this tree has some sentimental value and I would like to save it if at all possible. I have included pictures below.

    Thank you!
