hope i can provide enough info. for this question. i bought my mother a beautiful small tree like plant for mothers day at my local shopping store in upstate ny. it came with a booklet of info. but she has miss placed it. i cannot remember the name of it. well it is not doing to well. it came in a pot and i believe it would do well either planted or as a house plant/tree. she has had it inside and outside to figure out what does best and either seem to work she said she waters it like any old plant should be watered. the pink like flowers have died and the leaves look droopy. the plant is maybe about. 3ft. high with a braided trunk and the top is about 2ft across. ant ideas of the name or kind of tree this is would be great. thanks-k

Please give us a photo of the tree!
Given the time of year and your mention of the braided trunk and pink flowers, I'm guessing that the tree might be a hibiscus...? Take a look at pix of some and see if this is correct---or, if not, how your mom's tree looks by comparison. (Leaf size/shape, flower ditto.)
    Welcome to the Forum, nini!

definitely would need a pic to give an id. hibiscus is a decent guess from the description...some hibiscus are hardy in your area and others aren't - so, we need to get it id'd for ya since the cold weather will be here before ya know it!
