I found this possible mold or fungi on my archery target, it’s been outside under our open deck, it appears to be growing from the inside out… Question, have you ever seen this before and if so, do you know exactly what it is so we can treat the surrounding areas where it was sitting, our concern is, we have dogs?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi @Born7116
This is a Stemonitis, a kind of slime mould (myxomycete) - not a fungus or mold. Harmless.

Hi Frog, thank you so much for responding back... So question, even though it's harmless, when I scraped it off the archery target, it immediately turned into, what looked like a gas or powder, it literally disintegrated... Is there any concern where the spores hit the ground, should the dogs sniff or lick around that area?

    Thank you again in advance.

    Jeff

    Hi @Born7116
