A soil moisture meter would be a useful device for measuring moisture in the home garden plus indoor plants in containers. Knowing a bit about the electronics involved, I am aware that most on the market simply do not meet even the simple criteria required. A single probe moisture meter is simply a scam, since it cannot give results that are in anyway reliable. A study on the internet results in plentiful sales babble with few realistic details about the detector operation. There are many variables that have to be taken into consideration, when measuring conductivity of soil samples, and with computers and software it may be possible to implement a useful meter for determining soil mositure on a daily basis. Do anybody have some facts and experience in using a soil moisture meter on a regular basis? Or indeed does such an instrument exist? Durgan.
