Hi all. I was hoping for a little help.. again lol. I have a tree I purchased that was labelled Elmwood. Having sold my previous one to Mark @ROEBUK i snapped it up. This was 6 weeks ago approx. No leaves, hard to tell what you’re buying etc. I have been patiently waiting for it to leaf out because I knew to expect soft, delicate and beautifully coloured and reticulated leaves. Over the last week or so it began to show some sign of life... however, I believe we have an imposter lol :-) Have a look at these pics please and see if anyone recognises what it may be? Thanks in advance for all that try to help me with this one. I have contacted the nursery and within the hour he’d been out and found a very nice looking Elmwood which will be posted to me free of charge in the next couple of days. So, once again, like the Hime Shojo, I have a free tree. I just don’t know what it is... Help please :-)
I'm not going to take a stab at it Luke because as you know I'm rubbish at it, lol. But the fact that you have an Elmwood for free on the way, gets a thumbs up from me. Go on then I'll take a shot as your a friend. 'Beni Hagoromo'.
Thanks, I knew you’d be the first to reply lol. I’m not feeling your guess, sorry. I thought Hagoromo had leaves cut all the way down to the petiole?
It does and I'm rubbish. But I do see some similarities in colouring etc and I agree the leaves on yours are not cut down far enough. Now for someone with better eyesight to have a go. Over and out on this one for me......lol.
Hahaha, you maybe rubbish at identifying cultivars on occasions like this, but this forum wouldn’t be the same without you. You don’t have to be a ‘Paragon of plants’ to be the most inspiring and enthusiastic member on here ;-)
Defo not Hagoromo, colouration seems similar to Kamagata..but leaf shape is different..not much help sorry
