"Mint" found outside of Pharmaceutical Science building?

    Hi all,

    Some "mint"-looking plants were spotted outside of pharmaceutical science building in UBC. I had this sudden urge to find out what exactly it is and if it is toxic (summer is in town, mint leaves could be handy). I've tried to ask google - it seems like the toxic one is called perilla mint (Perilla frutescens), and it does not look similar to it.

    But just to be double sure so I don't end up taking sick days off, I took some photos:

    Toxic? Seeds of Perilla frutescens are a source of edible oil and the leaves are used in cooking etc., both in Asia and by people here in the West.
