I have a miniature hoya...have had it for years, it's my baby...a stunning 6 foot hanging plant. I left it with my mother for a few months who told me that she thought she might have overwatered it as she had to bend it over her sink to 'drian' it at one point. She figured she had killed it because after this happened it started to look kind of sick. That was a year ago, and it hasn't died, but the leaves are flat, dried out looking, have no moisture in them by the looks of it, some of them are turning yellow around the edges, and the leaves near the top of the plant have turned a lighter green than normal. However, it hasn't died, it's been a year, but I can't seem to get it back. Can someone please help? Should I repot?....it is rootbound, but I think it likes that. What should I do...please help.
I would unpot it and inspect the roots. If they look dead your plant is in serious trouble, especially if the stems do not produce sap if you cut them. Or could it be nutrient deficiency, a lack of nitrogen? Do you feed it?
I agree, check the roots. You may chose to make cuttings just 1 branch to start?. I had good success helping a friend in Aug. take cuttings and they rooted quickly in perilite with a plastic bag over. rooted in north window, My starts have not grown yet, but have been developing roots and I plan to start feeding and to pot up soon, good luck hoya are beautiful.
Thank you folks...I will try these. Fortunately I have a few stems rooted and ready for a pot and they look healthy and gorgeous! I will take this feller out of his pot and do an inspection...and I will also cut a stem to see if there is sap within. I'll post and let you know how it goes. Thank you again...I will try anything at this point. And no, I don't feed it normally. My plants get Miracle Grow plant fertilizer about every 6 months or so and that has always been successful for me. Perhaps I'll up their feedings as well.
