I retrieved this mini palm from a friends house who "moved over night", I have seen it look good in the past but it is not looking great right now. It is brown and dry on the ends of the stalks but still green in the center, how do I get it back to normal, is it a trim all stalks and wait for new or just keep it watered and wait for it to do it's thing (I have been trying this approach for two months, keeps the center green but no progress with the leaves)? I really like this tree (and the others which are different but doing well) and want to make it a part of our yard but not sure how to get it back. I live just south of Tucson AZ and need to know how to care for this thing...

    Pygmy Date I believe.
If it got frosted this Winter that could explain it's condition.
If not, maybe too dark or too dry. Planting it in the ground
should help. If you want to keep it in a pot keep it barely moist
until you see new growth then increase watering and feed
    lightly.

It probably did get frosted thi winter but I am not positive, may have been that I just under watered it, it gets quite a bit of sun but is shaded part of the day. So what kind of watering schedule would you suggest (for now and once it comes back to health)? Currently I am watering about every three days sometimes every other day to keep the soil moist.

Keep it barely moist, IE allow it to dry out slightly between waterings.
