I've forgotten the name of this flowering plant which is in sparce bloom currently. The best showing is in early Spring thru late Autumn, and this plant has been preforming nicely for several years. Cheers from Vancouver Island, Canada.
Looks like a marigold. If it is it obviously warmer on the Island than on the Sunshine Coast as mine all died at the first frost. Margaret
It is a Calendula officinalis, one common name is Pot Marigold because the flowers are edible if they have not been sprayed, but I can't tell you how they taste. It has been in cultivation a long time. It is considered an annual but it can be a short lived perennial in mild winter and it's not uncommon for them to bloom in the winter. They sometimes reseed.

Yes calendula flowers are edible. They do not have much flavour, but impart a yellow colour to dishes.
