Wildflowers: Michigan pink wildflower

    Can you please help me identify the wildflower shown in these photos?

    The photos were taken in September 2014 at the Robert H. Long Nature Park in Oakland County, Michigan.

    The plant was approximately three feet tall and grew directly on the shore of a lake.

    Epilobium hirsutum, a serious nuisance invasive in North American wetlands. If there was only the one and you are at all within convenient distance you should go back and pull it out.

    Pulling it out would not help with anything, since the seed heads are already ripe and opened.
