    hello all,
i am working in the peruvian high amazon in the department of San Martin. Last week on a venture into an area known as 'Olvido' I came across a tree that was unknown to me and the members of my group.

The examples we saw were generally between 3-5 meters in height with white almost waxy looking flowers. The petals of the flower were tubular. The leaves were dark green about 7-8 inches in length and 3 inches wide at the widest part. Of most interest was the fruit; also white in color about the size of a large grape or olive. Most notable was that the fruit smelled like menthol (inside it had one large seed).

If you have any ideas let me know.

    thanks

The tropics of course have most of the species, it is still quite possible to go into an undisturbed area and discover multiple new ones. If you could possibly get and post photos it could help a lot.
