Hello to all members of the forum.. I am a new member but i am very glad to find you ;) I am having a problem with one of my mint plants the mentha citrata. I grow it for drink it as tea in winter due to it very good odor.. ;) Alot of it's leafs have yellow dots underneath them like some type of microorganism and in 1 - 3 days they start to dry and finaly fall down. I will attach a picture of the leafs. What can i do to avoid this from happening ? Also mentha suaveolens and peppermint near to it is not infected. Thanks in advance. Regards..
Looks like a fungal affliction to me. I'd be spraying with 5% copper (II) sulfate solution, then simply making sure that I washed the leaves really well before using them for tea.
Thank you very very much for the reply. And how can i prevent the infection from happening again ? The fungal affliction goes from the roots to the leaf or there is no relation between ?
It's a leaf-surface thing. Right now in my garden I have two affected tomatoes and one squash with a very similar fungus, due to it having been rainier than usual. My other four squash and ten tomatoes are completely unaffected, so I've got no clue what prompts it to attack particular plants. However, the copper sulfate treatment keeps it in check, and the squash is just about free of it now.
How many times i have to spray it ? Also i have to spray once a while or it will disappear for ever ?
About once a week for a month (so, four times) usually takes care of it permanently, but watch your plants for the growth, and spray when you see it.
