This is the strangest tree I have ever seen. I was in a hurry leaving the Waimea Audubon Botanical Garden in Hawaii and took a few pictures of it together with a sign. To my disappointment the sign doesn't tell you the identity but rather the origin, which is from Canary Islands and Bermuda. The fruit is like a melon and bear some resemblance to a cantaloupe in size and colour. This is apparently facing extinction. The specimen is about 12-15 meters high. What is it?
