The first Two Photos are from Government websites (Black Nightshade-solanum nigrum) (Black Henbane-hyoscyamus niger) The next photos I took. (I love my new Canon!) Next is my garden The last is of Henbane from the same Government website as the first two seed photos.http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/phpps/ipc/weedinfo/hyoscyamus-niger2.htm Whose are Henbane seeds? Do the "Spirit Apothocary" seeds look like a variety of Black Nightshade-solanum nigrum?
Sorry but i couldn't tell you which was which.......so what's the difference between a medicinal quality seed and a seed saved by yourself? as far as im aware a seed is little package of atoms and essentially all the same, maybe you could ask them what is extra in their seeds? and this is interesting maybe i missed this, but im sure seed identification is done by comparison to other known seed in a seed library (i could be wrong on that)...actually reading it again it could mean they get someone to compare the seed to see if its the same.......again maybe ask for the name of the laboratory ;) they can't make claims which are untrue (it would be illegal) well i hope you get some satisfaction and maybe someone here will be able to help you out with a positive id.
The my photo of the Henbane plants I have been growing are the same as the Henbane plants on the link sent by the vendor in question. the photo is from 2nd party source. They also refered me to http://www.horizonherbs.com/search.asp?mode=results for viable seeds. This is where I purchase my seeds. As well as "Richter seeds." Both seed sources have identical seeds. The seeds in question are flat and smooth. Henbane seeds are highly pitted, slightly concave in the middle and thicker. I'm sure you can see this better if they are in your hand. I think the magnified Gov. photos compared to my photos make it fairly clear. Here's what they had to say about this Government photo of two magnified Henbane seeds: they wrote: This is a picture of henbane seeds true, however, > this is a "group or clump" which grows in the pod. > The color varies depending if it was grown as an > annual or a biennial. The groups or clumps above, > may very well have been planted as an annual. the > seeds darken and are intensely more potent if grown > as a biennial. Like I had said before you are more > the welcome to send back the product for a refund > for the product.
