Last summer we were up in the backcountry in the central interior of BC beside the Quesnel River, There was a plethora of wildflowers there and amongst them were a few of these lavender flowers that look like they might be in the Asteraceae family. There was nobody living in this area for miles around as we were surrounded by forestland though I suppose somebody could have at one time. This flower was in a meadow directly beside the river. It is similiar to a Centaurea cyanus or Bachelor's button (cornflower) - could it just be a variety of this flower. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi Ron, one thing I note is that in a description of Scabiosa plants is that they have small flowers of soft lavender blue, lilac or creamy white colour borne in a single head on a tall stalk. If you note the 2nd photo shows two buds shooting off the main stalk.
