In my back yard there are 5 mature fig trees of different cultivars, trunk sizes vary from 4in. to 6in. and all are over 8ft. tall. They are probably more than 50 years old. My elderly landlady had them laid down, tied to grape posts, boxed up with plywood, insulated with styrofoam inside the plywood and finally covered with a tarp during the winters. I harvested thousands of figs from these trees over the last two years. She passed away last year and consequently the trees were not laid down this past winter. I know I can't expect any fruit this year, but I hope they are not permanently damaged. If they do survive I would like to I.D. the cultivars. pretty sure I have one black mission. Does anyone know of a good set of keys for fig cultivars?
