mass cane floor plant

there is a stalk growing out of the middle of my plant top, it has clumps of seed like things and is sticky. what do I do with it?

Sounds like your mass cane/Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana' (Corn Plant) is very close to flowering,. The flowers have quite a heavy sweet scent, some people like it, others can't take it.
The stickiness is most likely from nectar leaking out. You can either leave the flowers be, or, cut them off. Let your nose be your guide:)
