Thank you for the ID. The link indicates it is native to the Amazon basin in Brazil. I guess it wouldn´t qualify as native in marsh zones along the Cauca river in Colombia.
Pitter, I'll chime in from experience. Water Hyacinth is considered a native weed plant in both our countries, and control/removal is all but impossible as the seeds are bird-borne and it will resprout from any tiny bit of rhizome that might remain in the soil. TROPICOS actually lists Ecuador and Colombia as the two hotspots for Eichornia diversity (not that 6 species counts as super-diverse in our neck of the woods, but there you go). The biggest listing for specimens is E. crassipes.
