My 25 year old maple tree suddenly died. I was told it has maple wilt and the root fungus will spread to my other maple shade trees. I don't know what to do. Can someone help me.

    I'm sorry for your loss.

I don't believe vert. wilt will spread by the roots to other trees.

Thanks for the confidence, but my other trees aren't looking very good. I'm trying to find an arborist in my area. no luck so far.

Finding a local expert is certainly your best bet. Is the person who told you it was verticillium an expert? I generally associate "root fungus" with something like a honey fungus; which can spread by root contact to other trees around. Or perhaps Phytopthora of some sort? Have you had an analysis done by a university extension office? In any case a certified arborist ought ask all the right questions.
