A great choice R, I have those four and I'm never disappointed. Btw Westonbirt Spreading Star really does spread and quickly, so do give it some room.

Great quality..larger and fuller than norm for the price point..albeit a little root bound..think I’ve found myself a nice new local supplier that gets unusual cultivars..good to support local independents too
This wasn’t actually on my list, but whilst at my local garden centre picking up some ericaceous compost and mini pine bark chips.... This just called out to me. What wonderful bright green bark and colourful pink leaves. I tidied it up a bit and thinned it out and now I think it has great branch structure ;-)
I love this cultivar and you have got a good one there Luke, it is especially nice in Spring, hence why it was calling out to you, Lol. BTW you might have to edit your post as the photos only showed up as attachments. Yes you can see them if you double click on each link, but you might want to change what you did. D

Hi Luke it’s called Cramden nursery..they only had 7 maples in stock but very happy with what I took away. I drove past it 3 times looking for it as it’s down a tiny lane. No more coming in soon but I will check in from time to time. Btw I’m glad you hung on to a good number of your trees..I really didn’t like to think of you hastily getting shot of all of them as per our convo..
It's these small out of the way nurseries that sometimes have something quite rare and special. Good find R.
Hi Rich see photo from today this is the back of my house which is north facing. If you look at the fence there is a white stripe half way up, everything to the right of this line down to the house is a sun intolerant tree and i find that these prefer where they are and just receive the right amount of light per day to make them show excellent colours during the season. They will only get sunlight from late afternoon usually from 16.00 hrs as the sun moves all the way round from east to west, then as the months progress the sun will shine longer but not intense heat. Also have other trees behind my workshop which react in the same manner , just the slightest amount of sun to keep them happy.
Had this one in the ground for years, only lifted it two years ago was starting to get to big so needed to come up, they can get quite large if not worked on.
I noticied that as I had mine in the ground and had to move it because he was expanding too much. He is getting more large than tall but I have good hope after seeing yours.
Hi all, Great looking maples. As previously mentioned I am looking forward to the Maple Society's attempt to define some cultivars that make sense. There are too many names floating around that seem to be the same cultivar. Yes, it will reduce our numbers, but I think it will make it easier for novices to select the right maple for their needs and not buy duplicates they don't want or need. Of course I didn't say old hand collectors aka maple-holics because we want them all. My Yuki yama maples are breaking bud, but not fully showing their wonderful spring color. I can hardly wait to get a few photos as this will be my first spring with my little collection of 13 babies. At least each one survived the winter and the 14" of snow [a new record for my 35 years with greenhouses]. I think I ripped a tendon in my right arm trying to remove the snow to keep the poly-covered structures from collapsing. Anyway, my husband and I managed the feat, unlike 12 years ago when one collapsed - the poly didn't break so the weight took the 14' high purlins and brought them all the way to the Earthmat floor. It was a mess and I lost 500 maples. But I am celebrating this spring after the year from Hell. New government, new spirt of hope and I got my first vaccination and I will get my 2nd next Tuesday. I am very grateful for surviving this pandemic at age 71. I am glad to be back on the UBC Forum again - I don't miss FB. Thank you for all the contributors, especially @Acerholic.
