I am a newbie to this forum. I have a compost bin and a wriggly ranch. I also have a non electric composting toilet. I was wondering if anyone has a recipe for compost to use in a composting toilet. I am paying $39 a bag for Biolet compost. It does not look THAT special. I am hoping someone can provide a list of the requirements to make compost for this application. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Most times old compost will inoculate new compost.

Can you look to see the percentages of material in the Biolet compost?

Ah, I just checked google, and you must be Rudy from the helpfulgardener site?

I would look at that recipe and make some careful adjustments. For instance the highly specific sphagnum may not be so necessary. The fact that the recipe calls for molasses and "good rich topsoil" tells me they are counting on the self-inoculation I mentioned.

I guess you already know that the more vegan you are, the less problematic the humanure compost?

    Good luck.
