I have a majesty palm; about 6 months old. The fronds and stem are turning brown. It is outdoors, medium to high sunlight, water about once a week. I'm in south Louisiana, temps are getting up to 90's now. It appeared to be doing well up to now. We cut one of the brown branches to find the base of the stem soft, a little gummy. Any thoughts ... From everything I've researched so far it seems these can be difficult to keep up without almost perfect conditions. Is there any hope of revival?
You might want to check that it is getting enough water, check into the soil. It might be that it is to late, is it in a pot, or in the ground?
It is in a pot. Unfortunately, since my original post, (3) additional branches have gone brown. We had some moderate winds last evening and all but a couple of the branches blew over in two. Doesn't appear there's much else to be done. I would like to find out if it was a disease or lack in care, though. I have a second majesty under the same conditions and it is doing just fine. Only difference in the two was the dying one was on the north end of the patio and the other on the south. I found some info on "pink rot" but not really sure if that was what it was. Any comments are appreciated.
