i am a gardener in maine who is not so savvy with trees. this tree is planted where i work and i have no idea what it is. there are tons of berries on it now (nov 3) and its just starting to change color. the bark is smooth but a variegated in color. people always stop and ask me what kind of tree it is and i literally have no idea. could it be a type of cherry? any ideas? help!

    Alder-leaved Whitebeam Sorbus alnifolia.

Native to NE Asia; a very nice tree. You're lucky to have it!
