I have a problem with my Magnolia tree roots are 4 to 6 inches above the ground. They are also starting to run under the side walk and house. How can I slow them down and bury them?
Hi REB, You can't bury them without smothering the tree. You can have a root barrier installed by a certified arborist so that the roots won't lift your sidewalk. Take a look at pics 52, 53, and 54 here. http://imageevent.com/mdvaden/treerepair;jsessionid=mt0oppzhr1.tiger_s Here's some info on how tree roots grow. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/MG089 http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/WO017 http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/Garden/02926.html Newt
