Magnolia or Pawpaw?

    Found at the Howard County Conservancy in Maryland. The tree is about 20' and may have been planted over 100 years ago. The fruit looks like Magnolia, the leaf doesn't. Any ideas are welcome

    It's a Magnolia, probably a saucer magnolia (M. x soulangeana)

    Thanks for your replies. It was the base of the leaf that really confused me. I think of a Saucer Magnolia as much less cuneate at the base.
