Wildflowers: Maasai Mara Flower ID, poppy?

    The flowers here appear to be some sort of papaver species.

    They were photographed in May or June in the Maasai Mara in southwestern Kenya.

    Are they in fact a poppy of some sort?

    My first impression is something in the Malvaceae -- love the colour on these.

    I think the color is grand too. Thanks!

    Malvaceae makes more sense. I didn't think poppies grew in the Maasai Mara.

    Any idea as to which type of Malvaceae?
