I was given a perennial grown in Langley 2 years ago. It had originated in a garden in Vancouver and had been grown there for over 50 years. My great-aunt called it Lythnia. It is a low plant with grass-like leaves and lovely spikes of bright pink flowers. The flower stems have patches of about 2 cm in length that are sticky and brown. Can you please help me to identify this plant?

Looks more like Silene viscaria (formerly Lychnis viscaria).

Thank you! That is exactly what I have and what a great common name on one of the websites: blooming sticky catchfly!
