    Hi;
    I live in Hamilton, ON -- Southern Ontario. I would appreciate any help or any ideas anyone could have for me. This is the first year of my garden. I totally relandscaped and planted about 60 plants last year. Only 3 didn't return this year. But, it appears that this is going to be quite a challenging year bug, disease, wise.
    My Lychnis chalcedonica was doing great up until late last week. I noticed that the lower leaves started yellowing and browning. Now it has progresssed quite a ways up the stalks. I've also noticed the same thing happening on my Japanese toad lily and Phlox. (see attached pictures) All of these plants are in seperate parts of the garden.
    Now, I was wondering could this be caused by the extreme heat we got all of a sudden last week? I watered but not everyday .. probably every third. Just prior to that I had had a bad bug problem and even powdery mold in my grass. This year the weather has been swinging wildly. It was hot, then cool and quite damp, then very hot and muggy, now back to more normal conditions.
    So again any help or advice would be appreciated.
