I have 1/2 inch white cottony ovals on the underside of the remaining leaves of my Japanese Maple. Many leaves have withered and fallen off already. My local garden center said that the only thing I can do is release lady bugs around the tree. They said it is scale and that you can not spray Japanese Maples or they will be completely defoliated. What is your opinion? I would add a picture but as I am new to this site I dont know how to do it.
